USPS Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

Place a box or can of non-perishable food next to your mailbox before your letter carrier delivers mail on Saturday, May 12. The carrier will do the rest. The food is sorted, and delivered to RCS, where it is available for needy families. We are currently in need of the following items:

  • PASTA (1 lb package)
  • Beefaroni/spaghettios
  • Pasta sauce in cans and/or plastic containers (no glass)
  • Hamburger Helper
  • Mac N’ Cheese (“Blue Box”)
  • Rice (1 lb bag)
  • Potato Mix, package – au gratin, scalloped, etc…
  • Instant potatoes
  • Stuffing Mix
  • Peanut Butter
  • Soup – condensed or dry package mix
  • Canned Vegetables – green beans, peas, corn, mixed
  • Beans – all varieties, canned, regular size
  • Ramen noodles
  • Canned meat – Tuna
  • Jelly
  • Oatmeal/Grits

We need volunteers both at RCS to process the donations, but, also to help the postal workers pickup donations in the below neighborhoods.

The mail carriers will leave blue bags with a card  explaining the event in their route mail boxes  May 8th –  11th.  They may need help picking  up these filled bags, which should be by the mailbox, in these neighborhoods:

Fairfield Harbor
Carolina Pines
Carolina Colours
Neuse Harbor
River Bluffs
Stately Pines
River Bend
Brices Creek
Harborside to Royal Pines
Cypress Shores
Trent Woods

VOLUNTEERS – 15 people

We would like at least one  person for each of the above areas.  These can be picked up mid-morning to late lunch time.  Susan Lucas will have printed maps on which the routes will be marked.

We need folks to volunteer in 2 hours shifts to unload the deliveries, load and unload the scale (all donations will need to be weighed and recorded), record the weights, then move them to the storage area.

Shifts are 11a – 1p, 1p-3p -, 3p-5p and 5p-7p.  There may be some opportunities on Sunday afternoon.

Please contact Susan Lucas to sign up – either thru the RCS phone number 633-2767, or her cell phone, 252 571-3013.
