In Eastern North Carolina, particularly in Craven County, transportation insecurity presents a significant challenge for individuals and families. Lack of reliable transportation creates barriers to essential services, impacting access to healthcare, employment, education, and even basic necessities like grocery shopping. Studies show that individuals facing transportation challenges are more likely to experience increased rates of chronic illness, higher unemployment, and decreased access to healthy food options, creating a ripple effect across their lives.
Recognizing this critical need, we are committed to bridging the transportation gap and empowering our community. Through strategic partnerships with Carolina East and C.A.R.T.S. (Craven Area Rural Transit System), we are working to provide accessible transportation opportunities, ensuring that everyone has the chance to lead a healthy, productive, and fulfilling life. We believe that by removing transportation barriers, we can create a more equitable and thriving community for all.
Individuals and families experiencing transportation insecurity can visit Client Services Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 4:00pm, to access C.A.R.T.S. vouchers, providing a direct and immediate solution to their transportation needs.
